West Sacramento, CA (MPG) - Several calls have come into City Hall regarding a strong odor described as sewage in the Southport area. Well, it’s not a sewage spill. West Sacramento Public Works crews have been out diligently investigating the stink but have not been able to locate the source. The unpleasant odor seems to appear every autumn, and some years are worse than others.
Air quality experts in the past have looked into naturally decomposing vegetation that occurs in large bodies of water, like the Yolo Bypass. So far this year, that has not been confirmed as the source. West Sacramento residents are encouraged to contact the Yolo-Solano Air Quality Management District or West Sacramento Connect if the odor persists.
