WEST SACRAMENTO, CA (MPG) - Marriott Springhill Suites’ owners, management and staff were joined by West Sacramento City leaders for a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday, October 12^th, at the new hotel, located at 3455 Reed Ave. Springhill Suites advertises that they are ready to serve at their new location in the Riverside Commerce Center. The Riverside Commerce Center is the area where Reed Avenue, Stillwater Road and Riverside Parkway make the big loop. The hotel is west of the Reed exit off Highway 80… across the street from Jack in the Box and behind Hampton Inn. 

Marriott Springhill Suites is close enough to attractions such as Downtown Sacramento, Old Sacramento, Golden 1 Center, River Cats Stadium, The Barn, the State Capitol and Sacramento International Airport, that Marriott’s management is confident they will have plenty of business. Springhill is a completely smoke free property and guests are not allowed to smoke anywhere on the property. In addition, they are not pet friendly. Service animals are, of course, allowed.

There is plenty to like and enjoy about Springhill Suites. The 97-room facility offers only suites. All guest rooms include a full, hot buffet breakfast each morning, starting at 6 am. The items rotate because they only have a small kitchen for making breakfasts; However, they offer items such as bacon, eggs, sausage, fruits, yogurt, juices, etc. In addition, there is a small market at the guest services desk, in case you want snacks later in the day.

All suites either have one or two beds, along with a sitting area in which the couch is a trundle bed. There is a separate area for making coffee or tea and a desk with a frosted glass partition that offers some separation between the sleeping area and the sitting area. There is a big, flat screen TV, viewable from both the sleeping and sitting areas. The suites are equipped with a large bathroom, where a sizable vanity area sits between the shower and the restroom.

Amenities that are available for use by the guests include a state-of-the-art exercise room with free weights. There is a small outdoor pool, with separate towels. The pool also includes an assist chair, that lowers individuals that have a hard time getting into and out of the pool without assistance. On the other side of the building, there is a beautiful outside patio that includes a fire pit.  Assistant General Manager, Terry Stewart said, “The patio is really beautiful because since the sun sets on the other side of the building, it never really gets too hot”. Terry also mentioned that the outdoor patio was also a great place to enjoy a cocktail from their full bar.

Currently the bar’s hours are Monday through Saturday, from 5 pm until 8 pm… unless there are people there. If this is the case, they will stay open later; you don’t have to drink outside, however. There is a beautiful lounge area next to the bar, as well as the limited number of seats at the bar itself. Again, because of the limits of the small kitchen, you cannot order meals, but they do have a “lounge menu” at the bar. This menu is limited to items such as quesadillas, salads and other simple dishes.

The Springhill Suites also includes a Board room and a Ballroom that can accommodate up to 400 people. Both of these are available to rent by the public. The Ballroom has the ability to be separated into two rooms if you have a smaller party. Outside catering is permitted, due to the limits of the kitchen.

Terry said that currently, Springhill suites is fully staffed. However, he welcomes and encourages people to come in and fill out an application at any time. “There is a large turnover in the hospitality business” Terry said. He continued with “especially in housekeeping because, well, it’s hard work!” Terry explained that Marriott is always looking for good people.
