WEST SACRAMENTO, CA (MPG) - On Saturday, July 2nd, the West Sacramento Police Department hosted the first Summer Night Lights event of 2022 at Bryte Park.
The community BBQ is the first since 2019, an annual summer tradition which had to be put on hold due to COVID 19 shutdowns. The event featured a free BBQ, arts and crafts, WSPD Bounce house, games, rides on the WSPD UTV, demonstrations by the departments newly formed sUAS (drone) team, free ice cream, and safe and sane fireworks display by the West Sacramento Fire Department. Officers and members of the West Sacramento Police Department were on hand manning the BBQ, driving the UTV, manning the drone, and playing and interacting with the community. This event, and ones like it provide an opportunity for the community to meet and get to know the officers who work in West Sacramento every day.
Expect to see at least one more Summer Night Lights event this summer. Additionally, interested neighborhoods can also register now to participate in National Night Out, another community building campaign that promotes police- partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods a safer, better place to live. National Night Out 2022 will be on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, and interested neighborhoods can register at www.westsacpd.org.
