WEST SACRAMENTO, CA (MPG) - Astound Broadband Powered by Wave donated on August 22, 2022, $20,000 to Computers 4 Kids, to support the organization’s expanding mission to bring computers to low-income students and adults throughout the Greater Sacramento area.

Astound Broadband Powered by Wave has been part of the region’s community for years, as an employer and a provider of fiber optic internet connectivity for businesses and consumers throughout Yolo County and much of Northern California.  Astound is dedicated to its employees and communities in ensuring equitable opportunities for all, in consideration of gender, ability, religion, orientation, or socioeconomic, racial, and ethnic backgrounds. The partnership with Meals on Wheels Yolo County helps assure success is achievable for every member of these communities. The funds recently donated will help support the organization’s mission that is in line with broader values that Astound wholeheartedly supports – literacy opportunities, mentorship programs for youth, housing, food security, and social services for all.

“Computers 4 Kids represents the very best of community service,” said Jared Sonne, senior vice president and general manager, Astound Broadband Powered by Wave. “We want to thank them for their dedication and hard work in nourishing and enriching the lives of individuals throughout the Sacramento area, by providing computers not only for low-income students in our area, but now adults, as well.”

“This timely gift will support our ability to execute on our mission, which has expanded to include bringing computers to low-income adults in Greater Sacramento, as well as continuing our work for area students,” said Lewis Bair, executive director of Computers 4 Kids.  “Computers are essential to improve educational outcomes throughout our community and we are grateful to Astound for supporting our efforts.”

Astound's support of Computers 4 Kids complements its Affordable Connectivity Program.  The company believes it is more important than ever that families in need have access to affordable internet, to stay connected to family, friends, work and school.  Eligible and qualified households can receive up to $30 per month off their Astound Broadband internet service.
